Utility knives or “box cutters” are widely used in retail, manufacturing, construction and other industries. They are used for everything from cutting string and opening cartons to cutting drywall and roofing materials. They are such a common tool that most people don’t think they need training on how to use them safely. However, over 60% of workplace hand injuries are lacerations (deep cuts) many from the improper use of utility knives. In this course, we will review the different types of utility knives available, their uses and how to work with them safely to avoid injuries to the hands and fingers. Estimated completion time is 15 minutes.
